Meet the Team
At The Helm Training
Meet John, our CEO and Co-Founder! John's journey began as a mate on a yacht, evolving into a seasoned professional with eight issues of USCG Master Licenses, with the first one granted in 1980. His extensive experience encompasses navigating the seas, intercoastal waters, and inland rivers across the USA and internationally, aboard yachts and sport fishing boats ranging from 70 to 120 feet.
Throughout his career, John has immersed himself in nearly every facet of the industry. He founded "A Yacht Management Co," overseeing larger yacht operations, ventured into yacht brokerage with "Lima Yacht Sales," and established "Broadbill Enterprises," a service-oriented company dedicated to yacht projects. With a wealth of diverse experiences spanning four decades, John identified a critical need for "At The Helm Training."
As an advocate for education in the yachting industry, John believes in fostering a safer boating environment for all. As a proud member of the NASBLA Enforcement & Education Committee, his passion for creating awareness and ensuring safety is deeply rooted. John's view of his role in the industry goes beyond professional obligations; he sees it as a lifelong commitment to education, both for himself and his clients. His career isn't just a job—it's a genuine passion that he carries with pride.

Meet Nancy, our Operations Manager! Nancy is a boating enthusiast with a lifelong passion for the water. Whether it’s the thrill of racing sailboats on Lake Michigan or cruising to the serene Bahamian waters, she has numerous unforgettable moments with her family exploring the waters.
While residing in Fort Lauderdale, Nancy had the pleasure of owning a successful yacht charter company with her husband, enabling her to share her experiences with others.
In the present day, Nancy connects with like-minded boaters to advocate for safe boating practices, ensuring that boaters acquire the necessary skills for a secure and enjoyable time on the water while embracing the boating lifestyle responsibly.
